Ukraïner and the Frontier Institute present 25 Strategic Questions for Ukraine — a series of essays in which 25 Ukrainian intellectuals and artists analyze the key challenges facing the country throughout 2026-27, to outline new contours of social development and broaden the public conversation about where Ukrainian society stands today and how it might move forward.
“Entering the fifth year of the full-scale invasion and the thirteenth year of war with Russia, Ukrainian society is facing a growing number of challenges that cascade and multiply without pause. They exist simultaneously, and the security situation —in Ukraine and now across the globe — does not afford the luxury of choosing between them. Our ability and courage to articulate and map these challenges determines both our life in this long war and the meaning we make of it, as well as Ukraine’s future,” writes Kateryna Botanova, project Curator and Head of Media Projects at the Frontier Institute.
The special project grows out of the Frontier Institute’s mission: to support an intellectual platform that shapes and sustains a systemic conversation about the future — within the country and beyond, placing it in a broader regional and international context.
The theme of the future is also one of Ukraïner’s strategic directions. For two years, Ukraïner Q has been publishing visionary interviews with Ukrainian and international intellectuals. While Ukraïner International has grown to engage with the world to learn about global contexts, our shared uncertain futures, and ensure Ukraine has a voice in international discussions.
“Our collaboration with the Frontier Institute is a natural continuation of that conversation in a different form. Essays give authors the space to develop arguments, build a line of reasoning and leave the reader room for reflection,” says Yuliia Tymoshenko, Head of Ukraïner.
“Radical simultaneity means recognizing the layers of reality, the many voices and identities that shape our world, and embracing complexity as the only true defense against erasure, silencing, and destruction,” from the first essay, written by Kateryna Botanova.
The essays are presented in English translation from the original Ukrainian. They are provided by the Frontier Institute, thanks to the support of PrivatBank.
